No Poetic Device

I've been dreaming. I was lucid. I was dreaming blood was seeping from my pores. Who'd believe that it was all my own decision? Cracked faces and medicated smiles. Set fire to my home before I turned and walked back in. For even needle open my chest and insert ten pins. I just anticipate what awaits when I awake... break. I die in my daydreams. The gardens have all been overgrown. I pushed my hand through the thorns to crush the final rose. A deadly secret only I suffer to know. I can't eradicate what awaits when I awake... break. I die in my day dreams.

I'm pretty sure that No Poetic Device is about Davey (or whoever the song is written about) doing something horrible, then falling asleep and dreaming about something similar. "Who'd believe that it was all my own decision?" would mean that whatever happened to him in his dream was a result of a decision he'd made before he went to sleep. "Set fire to my home before I turned and walked back in." Everybody's had that dream where they've done something completely irrational. In this, Davey had a dream where he set fire to his home and walked back in (maybe to get something), assuring his own demise. "The gardens have all been overgrown. I pushed my hand through the thorns to crush the final rose." This is kinda like 'I've screwed up so much and devastated so much life, whatever is left might as well not even be there so I'll just take care of that.' "A deadly secret only I suffer to know." I think this means that maybe no one's found out what he's done yet (like if he killed someone and hid the body; only he would know). "I can't eradicate what awaits when I awake..." That means that the consequences of what he's done are going to come back to haunt him when he wakes up, and he sees it coming. Anyone would want to eradicate any ominous futures that they see for themselves if given the chance.
