Dream of Waking

I feel it washing over me, the slow poisonous tide. Pins and needles dance on me. Sickness undefined. Now I'm afraid to face the sky. Please someone hear my haunted cries. Please them waken me. With eyes sewn shut I still can see all that is surrounding me. I end up somewhere, somewhere between... between a dream and motionless reality, will I forever life? I feel binding so smoothly. I see myself below. I feel it gnawing, eating me. Poisonous and slow. My mind it speeds. My voice has died. God let me make the faintest cry. Opened up and for the taking, just one touch and I'll be yours. Opened up wide for the breaking. Just one touch and I'll be yours. What's on the other side of the mirror? To cry, I try, to break the static keeping me here in between.

*=Lyric #= My interpretation
*I feel it washing over me, the slow poisonous tide #People with sleep paralysis feel a presence in the room, and something pressing down on them, keeping them from moving.

*Pins and needles dance on me, sickness undefined #I guess this also refers to the presence pressing down. "sickness undefined"- it seems obvious that someone with this condition would wonder what the fuck was happening to them.

*Now I'm afraid to face the sky #Naturally one would be afraid to look up at whatever was pressing upon them.

*Please someone hear my haunted cries. Please let them waken me #Well, duh! "Help me, wake me up, get me the fuck out of this!" self-explanatory

*With eyes sewn shut I still can see all that is surrounding me #Apparently people with sleep paralysis often have their eyes shut, and not being able to move, can't open them(this happens because when sleep paralysis occurs, the mind has awakened, but the body is still asleep. That's actually all that it is. The mind wakes up before the body, so the body can't move.) The word "see" probably means "sense", in that they can still hear, etc. everything that goes on around them.

*I end up somewhere, somewhere between... Between a dream and motionless reality. #Self-explanatory. See above. Mind half-awake, body still totally asleep. 'Nuff said.

*Will I forever lie? #Naturally one would wonder how much longer they would remain in that condition.

*I feel it binding so smoothly. I see myself below. #The "binding" line probably means the fact that he can't move. You can't move, but you can't feel what's keeping you from moving. So the binding is smooth, not rough like if he were tied up. Kinky....*Outsider slaps herself. Bad thoughts!* "See myself below" sounds like an out of body experience, which for all I know might be going on there. It kinda fits, kinda doesn't, but what the hell.

*I feel it gnawing, eating me, poisonous and slow #I guess the presence might feel like it's feeding off of you. Creepy.

*My mind, it speeds. My voice has died. #Self-explanatory, again. Mind half-awake. Body can't move. Therefore body can't speak. 'Nuff said.

*Opened up and for the taking, just one touch and I'll be yours #I once thought he was referring to the presence above, 'cause since he can't move it can do whatever it wants. But one way to get out of sleep paralysis is for someone to touch you and wake you up fully, so I guess he means "wake me up and I'll be forever grateful"

*Opened up wide for the breaking, just one touch and I'll be yours #Same thing. Isn't it romantic, though? (Damn, bad thoughts again! *slap!*)

*What's on the other side of the mirror? #Sounds like Alice in Wonderland. Weird. It doesn't seem to fit, but with all the dreams it kinda does.

*To cry, I try, to break the static keeping me here in between. #Self-explanatory. Wants to cry for help. 'Nuff said. Wants to be either asleep, or fully awake, but not between the two. 'Nuff said.
